Halloween Activity!

In this blog series, I am excited to be sharing a monthly mindful moment. This is where I will provide you with valuable information on mindfulness, while sharing different activities or games that encourage mindfulness for both you and your child. Let's jump in!


We are in the month of October, which means Halloween is approaching! For this mindful moment, I thought it was only fitting to have a Halloween arts and crafts activity.


Remember: Any activity can be made into a mindful moment by simply reminding yourself to be fully present in the experience.


This activity is a Halloween Card using a print out (attached below!) and cotton balls to add fun texture. Cotton balls are a great way to expose your child to new sensations. Not only is the cotton ball portion of this card activity great for fine motor skills and development, but it's also a great way to get sensory integration into your child's play time.


You and how you present this activity to your children is what makes this experience a mindful moment. So remember to say less and express your best!



The materials required for this activity are:

  • PDF Print out

  • Construction paper

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Cotton balls

  • Crayons / colored pencils


Halloween Card Instructions:

  1. Cut the ghost out of the purple frame.

  2. Gently stretch out some cotton balls by pinching them from either end and slowly pulling them apart. Do this to about 10 cotton balls, or enough to cover the ghost cutout.

  3. Glue your stretched cotton balls onto your ghost cutout.

  4. Fold a piece of construction paper in half.

  5. Glue your ghost onto the front of your construction paper card.

  6. Decorate!

With a soothing tone of voice and calming music playing in the background, this simple card activity can turn into a relaxing, creative moment that your little ones will crave.
